WHETHER FOR A FENCE TO PROTECT YOUR ANIMALS OR YOUR CROPS, FOR A WATERING SYSTEM, FEEDING EQUIPMENT OR YOUR STABLE, WE HAVE WHAT YOU NEED AND WE WILL BE PLEASED TO ADVISE YOU.
HORSE FENCE TIPS:
Wire height:
For large horses, we recommend 3 rows at the following heights: 50 cm (20''), 95 cm (37'') and 140 cm (55'')
For small horses, we recommend 3 rows at the following heights: 45 cm (18''), 75 cm (30'') and 120 cm (48'')
Post :
The installation of the post must be at 10' for the Hippo Safety Fence and at 10' to 12' for the other fences of your choice
Door and corner posts must have supporting diagonals in order to be able to apply optimal tension to your fence.
Poorly installed post with a lack of strength will cause an unstable fence and could injure your animal in the event of contact with the fence.
Depending on the type of fence, there are several models of tensioners that must be used to guarantee good tension.
Ground:
Proper grounding is essential for the installation of any electric fence. An electric fence can only function properly with careful grounding.
For optimal electrical contact with the ground, use rust-resistant galvanized rod with a large contact surface.
The energizer must be connected to at least one ground rod via a connection cable.
In the case of difficult ground (dry, sandy, stony) or more powerful equipment, it is recommended to use several earth connections. (1 joule = 1x, 3 joules = 2x, 5 joules = 4x) etc.
Place your ground rod with a space of approximately 6' to 10' between each stake and connect them with a grounding cable. It is possible that in the summer season, depending on the level of dryness of the earth, your grounding may need to be watered in order to guarantee the effectiveness of the fence.
Fittings/connectors:
The best conductor and the most powerful energizer won’t be of any use if the electrical connections are not made correctly.
To avoid risking a loss of conductivity, NEVER MAKE KNOTS IN THE CONDUCTORS!
In the event that a wire, rope or ribbon breaks or if you wish to attach it at the beginning or end of the fence, always use a highly conductive connector manufactured for this purpose.
Like connectors for wires and ropes: 70535, 70536, 70060 or 70600
For ribbons: 70069, 70070, 70071 or double plate connectors 70040, 70040-B or clips 35560
the same goes for the handle attachments, you must use the connectors provided for this purpose, i.e. 70072, 70073 or 70535 and 70536
A switch can be very useful to enable a quick repair 668410
Protection against lightning :
An installation should always include lightning protection to prevent lightning from traveling to your energizer and being redirected to the ground if it contacts your fence.
The 30048 surge protector will route lightning to the ground and is easily installed in both existing fences and new installations.
Signaling:
We suggest that you post warning signs every 100m (328') in order to clearly identify the presence of electricity on your 72350 installation.
REMEMBER THAT ANY ANIMAL IN ENCLOSURES WILL NEED TO HAVE A PERIOD OF ADAPTATION AND LEARNING TO ITS ENVIRONMENT.
IT IS THE OWNER'S RESPONSABILITY TO TEACH THEIR ANIMAL TO RESPECT THE LIMITS OF THEIR ENCLOSURE.
GOOD TRAINING IS THE BASIS OF KEEPING YOUR ANIMALS SAFE!
